What makes your heart pound - maybe fear – perhaps financial worries or fears, or family and relationship issues. Maybe your heart pounds when you are faced with a work dilemma or maybe you have to give a speech and that strikes you with anxiety!
Or maybe your heart pounds because you’re watching your grandson at the plate and the little guy hits a home run! Or perhaps your heart pounds when a loved one you haven’t seen in years gets off the plane and you greet her.
There are different reasons for a “pounding heart”, but my heart is pounding today because I know my Beloved is coming for me, for us, and He is going to restore Israel and all things. I know He is near. If you are walking intimately with Him, I am quite sure you really hear me. He is transforming us from "earth-people" to "eternal-people".
I’m thinking of the Song of Songs – and my heart is pounding -
“My Lover thrust His hand through the latch-opening; my heart began to pound for Him.” Song of Songs 5:4
Just reading the words causes my heart to pound. Yes, Lord! And the words from Revelation –
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with Me.” Rev. 3:20
He’s standing there at the door. I can barely take it in. But I know it is true.
Oh, my dearest family in Yeshua, let’s give ourselves totally over to this great love of God - receiving this great love from Him first so we can give the very love He gave us back to Him – it’s the only way He will truly receive the kind of love He is so worthy to receive – it has to be His love, the very flame of the Lord (John 17:26; Song 8:6).
He is nearer now than when we first believed. His hand is on the door latch and we know for sure that it is Yeshua because of the myrrh dripping from the latch (Song of Songs 5:5), confirming to us that it is the One Who suffered and died and rose again…..His glorious sacrificial life calling us to a place we’ve never been before.
Yes, Lord, by your grace, You are calling for me, and I am coming! You asked us, Yeshua, if we would open the door, (Song 5:2), and, Lord, without delay, we say “yes!” There may have been a time in your life, like the bride in the Song of Songs where there might have been hesitation, but now, today, we will not hesitate, we say “yes, precious Savior!”.
Oh, Yeshua, we open the door, please come in! Take us with you to the mountains and to the valleys and throughout the countryside doing the same work that you do in the harvest fields (Song 7:11-13) because we want to be where you are – whether in the secret place with you or on the battlefield where our wounds are gushing, sharing in your sufferings (Php. 3:10). Oh, Jesus, we want to be like You, our ever-living, ever-loving, everlasting God.
Yes, we hear, Lord, you are coming soon, over the mountains and over the hills – you are looking through the lattice and you see us here (Song of Songs 2:8-12) – and we see You, too, sometimes ever so faintly, like looking into a mirror darkly
(I Cor. 13:12) but we do see You! Thank you for this grace of allowing us to see a glimpse of your glory before we see You fully.
And the signal of Israel blossoming and flowering in the Land and the firstfruits spreading their fragrance is a banner to the nations and to those who are faint with love for Him...the pounding intensifies as we see the prophetic Word being fulfilled...
"The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance...." (Song of Songs 2:13)
“O daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you – if you find my Lover, what will you tell Him? Tell Him I am faint with love.” Song of Songs 5:8
Pounding, yes, my heart is pounding, because I know the One my heart loves is near. (Song of Songs 3:4)
Dear friends, allow yourselves to long for Him because it will change us like nothing else will….let’s purify ourselves with this hope (I John 3:2-3; I Thes. 4:18).
And then, let’s obey his request, “….let me hear your voice!” (Song 8:13), and let Him hear our voices - let's say the words He longs to hear -
“Come away, my Lover, and be like a gazelle or like a young stag on the spice-laden mountains.” (Song 8:14)
“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!...” (Rev. 22:17)
“….Blessed is He Who comes in the Name of the Lord.” (Matt. 23:39; Ps. 118:26)
“My Lover thrust His hand through the latch-opening; my heart began to pound for Him.”
Song of Songs 5:4
